Admission arrangements

If you are interested in a place at Norton Primary Academy, you are more than welcome to visit. Telephone 01642 356091 to make an appointment with the Principal, Mrs Michelle Randall-Harris, who will give you a guided tour and answer any questions you may have.

Nursery

We accept children from the age of 3 into our nursery, throughout the year. If you are interested in a place in the nursery then contact the school directly. A waiting list is maintained of pupils who are not yet 3 so that nursery staff can contact parents as they approach their 3rd birthday to offer places.

Our pupil admission number is 60 children per year group.

Reception

Norton Primary Academy offers places to all children from the autumn term after their fourth birthday. Children whose birthday is from:

1 September 2019 to 31 August 2020 – start school in September 2024
1 September 2020 to 31 August 2021 – start school in September 2025

Children are admitted to our reception classes, full-time, at the beginning of the academic year (September) in which they become five years old. We follow the local authority admission policy and criteria in accordance with current legislation. This allows parents to choose the academy or school they wish their child to attend, providing it has places. Stockton Local Authority publishes a ‘Starting at School’ prospectus complete with preference forms and a list of all Stockton Schools and their admissions criteria. This booklet is available from September onwards directly from the council or from our school office. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure that the preference form is completed and returned to School Admissions Section, CESC, Stockton on Tees, TS18 1XE or online. This includes information for parents of Summer born pupils who may wish to consider deferring the start of full-time education for their child.

More information is available via the link below including information on the right to appeal. Any appeals will be held in line with the local authority timetable for appeals.
