Y5, at Norton Primary Academy, had an amazing day exploring the career opportunities within the Tees Valley in June. With the help of SPARK Tees Valley, the children worked collaboratively to investigate many businesses in the area and locate these with an interactive map. Next came the use of the ever-popular Dash robots. It was a delight to see their enthused faces and excellent group work as the children used coding to navigate their robots around a map of the Tees Valley, visiting key landmarks along the way.

The world of work experience was brought to life through the use of the brand-new AV Dawson headquarters, where the children experienced a corporate setting, an employee lounge and magnificent views across the Tees Valley from the balconies.

Sonia from Spark had a great day with the children and summed up her experience: “What a pleasure it was to work with the students on the latest World of Work Day at AV Dawson funded by TVCA. They were absolutely incredible and their enthusiasm levels were off the scale. I feel we certainly have some young coders with a bright career ahead of them”.

We are proud of how our children took up the challenge of the world of work and demonstrated the beginnings of key skills, which can grow to help them flourish in the future.
