Microbit Workshop
Year 5 welcomed Mr Foggett from Yarm Preparatory School to lead some microbit sessions. The children thoroughly enjoyed using the Microbits and Chromebooks to learn about coding. They were able to code their computers as light sensors, thermometers, accelerometers and a die. They were able to make connections with real life and understand how these basic codes are utilised everyday, e.g. street lights, automatic headlamps in cars and controllers/joysticks for computer consoles. The children also learned how to program the Microbits so they could play some games, like rock, paper, scissors. I think we may have some future coders in the making.
