Small Actions, Big Impact: KS2 Explore Climate Change at Hardwick Country Park
Some of our Key Stage 2 pupils recently enjoyed an exciting and thought-provoking visit to Hardwick Country Park, where they took part in a special environmental workshop called Planet B.
The workshop explored the very real climate change emergency and what it means for us both globally and within our own local community. Throughout the afternoon, pupils were encouraged to think carefully about how the choices we make can have an impact on the planet, and how even small actions can make a difference.
During the session, the children took part in a range of practical, hands-on activities designed to get them thinking about key environmental issues. Working together in groups, they investigated topics such as protecting natural habitats, reducing waste, and making more sustainable choices in everyday life. The activities encouraged teamwork, problem solving and plenty of lively discussion as pupils shared ideas and learned from one another.
One of the key messages of the workshop was the importance of the phrase “think global, act local.” Pupils explored how global challenges like climate change can be tackled through positive actions within our own communities, schools and homes.
It was a lively, engaging afternoon filled with curiosity, creativity and thoughtful conversations. Our pupils represented the school brilliantly, showing great enthusiasm and a real commitment to learning about how they can help care for our planet. The visit certainly inspired many of them to think about the role they can play in creating a more sustainable future.
