Our special tour of The Globe Theatre.
Three of our pupils were invited to attend a private tour of The Globe Theatre in Stockton. It is the third Globe Theatre to sit on this site. Big names have performed here over the years, including:
Diversity, The Beatles, Cliff Richard, Ocean Colour Scene, Paloma Faith and very soon Gary Barlow.
The visit was an opportunity for the children to meet other children from different local schools. The visit started with a music workshop involving singing along to Josh playing the guitar – event the teachers were allowed to join in too!
The children sat in the huge circle of the theatre and had the opportunity to listen to ghost stories and ask questions about the theatre. We discovered that it still has many of it’s original features; it
has been a cinema in a former life and the seats can be taken out downstairs for standing audiences and live music events.
On stage, it became apparent just how big and majestic the theatre actually is. Very impressive! Behind the scenes we visited the dressing rooms and sat in the chairs where the cast of the West
End musical “Six” had sat! We felt extremely privileged.
What an experience!
