  • Bright lights, big city… NPA does London Bright lights, big city… NPA does London

While the sun was shining bright and hot in London, some lucky children were exploring the history and wonders of England’s capital. On the first day, even though everyone was tired from the long journey, a trip to The Natural History Museum was too good to miss. While there, the children saw animals from all around the world, past and present, learned all about the dinosaurs and even came into contact with a roaring tyrannosaurus-rex. The great adventures of the day were not over however, we managed a glorious sightseeing walk in the late afternoon passing the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, walked up The Mall, and ended up at Buckingham Palace – a real bucket list experience.

Day 1 was incredible but day 2 promised to be even better. After a comfy sleep and massive breakfast in the hotel, the group went straight out to The Tower of London and saw everything from the Crown Jewels to King Henry VIII’s armour for jousting. We were told about the legend of the tower: if the ravens leave the tower it will fall! After that magnificent experience, the next stop was back to the hotel to get changed for the once in a lifetime west end show, Frozen, at the stunning Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The singing was brilliant and the whole show was funny, captivating and full of amazing talent, especially younger actors.

Our final day consisted of a trip to the Science Museum. The Science museum was very interesting and it had a lot of games to keep everyone entertained and engaged. Some groups learned all about space and about the body and mind: some children played in the Wonderlab, which was full of surprises and games that explained the science of the world! For a lot of children, this was the first time in London and the excitement and atmosphere on the coach and as we walked around such a great city was truly heart-warming. Many of the children had never been away from home, so this was a chance to flourish and show how independent that could really be. Every child was a credit to the school and their family and we cannot wait for next year already!
