We will remember them
Remembrance at Norton Primary Academy
The month of November at Norton Primary is always awash with red and purple poppies of every size and November 2022 has been no different. Across school, children have been sharing stories of family members who have fought in wars gone by and who serve our country now. Scroll down to see some of the activities which happened throughout the week of Remembrance.
Visitors to Norton Primary are met with our Remembrance Tree located in the main entrance. Children from across school design poppies to decorate it. Our Fundraising Ambassador, Layla in Y6, gives up every breaktime in the first few weeks of November to fundraise for the British Legion. This year, staff were excited to partake in a blind card competition with a possibility of winning a red hamper; one of our cleaning team was the lucky winner!
Our school choir, Mrs Storey and Mrs Singleton were privileged enough to be part of a local Children’s Remembrance Service over remembrance weekend. It was a sunny, crisp day and the children marched proudly alongside other schools and local groups, led by local veterans. What an opportunity to share their stories of remembrance across the generations!
In addition to this, the school choir sang and shared poetry at a special remembrance service, held at St Mary’s Church, led by Rev. Martin. Outside the church, our Head Girl Mollie laid a wreath on behalf of the children and families of Norton Primary Academy.
‘When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say, For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today.’
